Rafael Rebello

Head Coach

Bio:

As you might have guessed, I am Brazilian and in my country you either play soccer or you study Jiu-Jitsu. At the age of 12, I started my life-long passion and dedication to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. By the time I was 14, I was successfully competing in national events in Brazil.

Three years later I was traveling the world to compete in International competitions in the United States, Europe and Asia. To date I have competed in over 100 tournaments and am proud to say that I am a World Medalist, a two-time Brazilian Champion and multiple time Rio De Janeiro State Champion, and others. In 2002 I was accepted into the Brazilian National Freestyle Wrestling team and in 2005 I proudly received my black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

That same year, I decided to take things to the next level and I fought my first MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fight. Ever since that pivotal decision in my career, I have not stopped! I proudly train under the American Top Team flag, current BXC Bantamweight Champion, WEC, PXC and AFC veteran fighter.

As a fighter, you never stop learning, evolving and upping your game.
Rafael proudly trains and compete under the American Top Team flag and in 2010 he started teach as a Head Coach on American Top Team Deerfield Beach/ Boca Raton, discovering and building a lot of young fighters for the next generations.

As a fighter, you never stop learning, evolving and upping your game.

What ours students have to say about us!

Oleksandr Alex Bogun

As a kid, I often wrestled with my father. He told me to never give up & wanted me to make wrestling part of my life. Yet, I found myself making excuses like too-long workdays, & persistent neck problems. Past year I said, “enough is enough” and decided to go for it.
I got to know Rafael after 2 months of training, when he became my BJJ trainer. His desire to transfer experience to every person on our team was magnificent. He was attentive in explaining every movement & question asked. The strongest quality he showed me was team spirit. Never in my life had I felt so much support. My 1st competition came only several months after. I lost my 1st grapple, and Rafael reminded me that I should never give up. When I entered a second grapple 2 hours later, Rafael gathered our entire team, and I heard 20 voices of support. I was able to achieve victory within 10 second of the end of the round because my spirits had been buoyed.

I have studied Brazilian Jiu Jitsu most of my life and when I found American Top Team in Deerfield Beach, I knew my 4 year old son had to learn from the best. He is now 14 and still loves the art. It's amazing to watch a middle school student roll with high level belted adults on a nightly bases and always have fun. Rafael Rebello's attention to perfect technique and his unending encouragement and family like gym makes the art of Jiu jitsu life changing. There are many things you can do for your kids, but giving them the opportunity to learn the art of Jiu Jitsu will be one that they can use the rest of their lives.
